Now comes the important question: How can you improve your mental health?
Well, there are various ways to better your mood, one of which being
exercise. Studies by the National Health Institute have shown that at
least 30 minutes of exercise per day can reduce stress, anxiety,
depression, etc, and can improve your self-esteem and cognitive
function. Exercise increases the production of endorphins in your
brain, also known as a "Runners-High".
Exercise can also improve your sleep, a key factor that plays into
your mental health. REM(Rapid Eye Movement) Sleep is a phase in deep
sleep that increases the brain's activity. REM Sleep allows the brain
to processs emotional information, which is one possible reason you
might feel groggy and upset after minimal sleep. Inconsistent sleep is
often correlated with mental disorders and negative thoughts, so
naturally, consistent and adequate sleep helps maintain your health,
prevent erratic or suicidal behaviors, and leave you feeling refreshed
daily.
Other ways to improve your mental health involve abstinence from
social media, joining a local club, or even going to the beach. Every
person has something that can improve their mood. Nobody has the exact
same interests, but these ideas should give your a starting point you
can use.
